Hospital & Treatment Checklist

When your child needs hospital care, the smallest details can make a big difference. This checklist is designed to make the practical side of things easier — so you can focus on what matters most.

🧳 What to Pack for Your Child

  • Comfy clothes (pyjamas, hoodie, socks, slippers)

  • Favourite soft toy or comfort item

  • Snacks and drinks they like

  • Headphones, tablet, or books

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, wipes

💡 Tip: Label everything. Hospital washing machines and shared spaces make it easy for things to go missing.

🪞 What to Pack for You

  • Loose, comfortable clothes

  • Something warm (hospitals are cold at night)

  • Reusable water bottle and snacks

  • Notebook and pen (to jot questions for doctors)

  • Chargers, headphones, and a sleep mask

📋 Paperwork & Essentials

  • Appointment letter and NHI number

  • Medication list and allergy notes

  • Any care plans or discharge summaries

  • ID, parking card, and hospital map

  • Child’s comfort routine (e.g., sleep schedule, sensory notes)

🏥 Questions to Ask the Team

  • Who is our main contact person?

  • What’s the best time to reach them?

  • What’s the plan for pain management?

  • How will we know if something changes overnight?

🖊 Bring a notebook — even confident parents forget details when tired
