Lived-experience tools to help whānau speak up and stay steady

Silent Hum turns lived experience of childhood illness and grief into practical resources, including articles, series, and downloadable tools for parents, caregivers, and professionals. The grief literacy series, hospital guides, and advocacy templates are written in clear, New Zealand-focused language so families can understand their options and feel more confident when asking questions or speaking up.

Alongside resources, Silent Hum advocates for culturally safe, transparent, and whānau-centred care by highlighting systemic issues, sharing stories that illuminate gaps, and pointing to constructive changes organisations can make. These tools support individuals and also help teams, schools, and services reflect on how to show up better for families living with serious illness and loss.
